This is a very diverse group of drugs with one property in common – they have a calming effect. Anxiolytics (tranquilizers) are used mainly for neurotic disorders, accompanied by mental stress, anxiety and fear. At the same time, many of them and has a hypnotic effect. Some of them also possess anticonvulsant activity. Different drugs in this subgroup, these effects are expressed in different extent, but in high doses, they all exhibit the full range of their capabilities, and dangerous than an overdose of these drugs.
One side effect of anxiolytics is slowing down mental activity that seen in the reduction of concentration (and therefore should not be used while operating a vehicle in those areas where need quick response).
